Jon and Jordynn

March 15th, 2026

It’s always a struggle for me to narrow down which images I want to showcase or include in a session or wedding blog. There’s a real art to finding the balance between choosing images that convey emotion, highlighting your best work, and telling the couple’s story in a meaningful way.

If I didn’t care so much or put this much thought into it, there would probably be 100 images in every blog post—haha. But for me, each image matters. I want the ones I choose to reflect not just beautiful moments, but the feeling and connection behind them.

Needless to say, summarizing has never really been my specialty… but when it comes to telling someone’s story through photographs, it’s always worth the extra thought.

A couple of summers ago, I had the absolute joy of photographing Jon and Jordynn’s wedding just north of Campbell River, in Browns Bay. I had never been to Browns Bay before, but it didn’t take long for me to understand what drew them to this beautiful spot.

The venue has this incredible mix of rustic charm and wild coastal beauty. Nestled within the famous Seymour Narrows, it’s also a prime location for watching marine traffic pass through and spotting wildlife. It’s the kind of place that immediately makes you slow down and take it all in.

The forecast for the wedding day was exactly what you might expect for a West Coast day in September. Rain was in the forecast, but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. Jon and Jordynn were fully in the embrace it mindset, and I was absolutely here for it—raincoat, woolly socks, and toque included.

While we did encounter a bit of rain throughout the day, we were also lucky enough to catch that beautiful post-rain misty glow over the ocean, and even a rainbow during the ceremony.

The whole day was just beautiful. The wedding party was a dream, and the couple—well, they’ll always be one of my favourites. They nailed everything, from the choreographed first dance to the homemade array of treats, the dress swap, and the glow sticks that came out for the dance party. It was all such a hit and such a genuinely fun celebration.

Thank-you J & J for having me be apart of such a memorable day.
